ABOUT COACH HUNTER LEISNER
Hunter started playing hockey when he was 8 years old right after the Dallas Stars won the Stanley Cup in 1998-1999 season. He is a local Dallas, TX hockey goalie who came up playing AAA hockey for the Alliance Bulldogs in Valley Ranch.
Hunter left to go play up north in Chicago when he was a freshman in High school to billet with hockey families while playing AAA hockey for the Chicago Fury for his U16 & U18 years. Then he was Tendered to play hockey in the NAHL for the Aberdeen Wings. Played a year and half with them but then he got traded to the Texas Tornado in the NAHL where they won the Robertson Cup. From here he was invited to go to the Dallas Stars Draft and Invite Camp. It is a weeklong camp with incredible players and coaches. After his junior career he went to go play D1 Hockey in western Massachusetts for American International College (AIC).
Hard work and determination will beat out natural ability and skill every time. Having a love of the game to grow and be better. Will always get you to higher achievement then just checking a box at practice. Having fun by refining the fundamentals is where goalies achieve true success as a hockey goalie. Whether your 8 years old or a pro in the NHL, fundaments can’t be stressed enough. I want to drive home how much fun being a goalie is and with that energy show them the skills to succeed. This is just some of the lessons I have learned over my long hockey career that got me to play D1 hockey against the biggest schools in the US.
